4/30/2010 3:48:29 AM  I have reported this to ICE almost a year ago. I waited over an hour on hold to report the illegals and nothing ever came about. The reason I was hired, through a temp service along 9 plus other people in production at the Pensacola location, was because there was fear there Pace location was going to be raided. That day the released every illegal they had no warning just told them not to come back. The temp service didn’t send the bext qualified people to the job and their work showed it. I was kept on due to my Vo Tech certificate in Horticulture. After the heat settled they laid off the workers (which were not doing a fourth the work they could do, almost all of them were younger black men that over and over complained it felt like they were mostly back in the slave days and now knew how slaves felt, which is untrue I did the same work as they did and it was just work with a reasonable quota per person per hour) and slowly brought back the Mexican’s. Every lay off the people were replaced with Mexican’s. Some of the people could have stayed on but they were too vocal about they’re dislike of the Mexican’s. At the time I didn’t see the harm in them being replaced as the Mexican’s were doing 10 times the work I was and I’m not slow and up to 25 times the production the complainers were doing. I didn’t overly agree with replacing them with Mexican’s, I truly thought they should have been more [select]ive in who they kept from the temp service and replace them with American workers that would work. But, I figured the ones being laid off where complaining to the right agencies and Emerald Coast Growers would be bust in no time, which never happened! So I reported them to ICE. This company has 3 locations. I work for the headquarters located Pensacola, FL. I don’t know exactly how many are employed in the other 2 locations. I do know that the Pensacola, FL location has 10 (Maria, Luis, Teresa, Orlins, Maritza, Doris, Anna, Armatina, Candy and Jose) on payroll at this time. It isn’t exactly a secret they are illegal but it is not something that is that is openly discussed outside the production building in which all but one is employed under. We are to call them MC’s and after working there I still do not know why we are to call them this or what it means. Emerald Coast Growers not only hires illegal’s but also is part of one of the programs that they legally hire immigrant workers from Mexico for their Milton, FL location and possibly there Pace, FL. I know for a fact that Teno and Jose at their Milton location are illegal and working with the legal immigrants at the Milton Location. I know this because the company asked me to have these two people (Teno and Jose) live with me while they fixed up the house they were living in to accommodate/get to code for the legal’s coming through this program. Also during this time the company relocated their jobs to the Pensacola location. As soon as the company felt comfortable enough to put them back to the Milton location they did and now they mix in with the legal’s and live in the mobile home on the Milton grounds. As I understand it, Daniel (the manager) of the Milton location does not allow the Mexicans to sit while they work dividing plants. I have been to this location once during the legals off time and can confirm that I did not see any chairs anywhere in what would be called the production building where they divide plants. Also Teno and Jose confirmed that the live in the mobile home on the property to me directly. But when I asked Teno if he wasn’t allowed to sit he replied there was need to and then shied away from the question entirely. I do know the following things for a fact. Armatina went back to Mexico, the company some how convinced her to return, she relaxed for a week on the job) she was on the job site the very next day she set foot on US soil) recovering from her trip across the desert, the first day she showed up her feet were literally bleeding. At that time Armatina and Maritza were told their S.S. cards were no good and needed to get new ones (this was confirmed by Josiah Raymer (then head grower, now GM) and Charles Givins (production manager)) so they went to Foley, AL and got new ones. I know that Luis and Maria are receiving food stamps and health coverage as the have a anchor baby together. This year the filed for past tax returns through some attorney in Foley, AL and some got ripped off by this attorney’s secretary. Emerald Coast Growers furnished them with past W-2’s to do this. Our old GM David Daggin had connection in Pensacola but he had some kind of fall out with the company and resigned. Also as I stated earlier, it isn’t exactly a secret that they are not legal. I’m not reporting this info to you because they are bad Mexican people, in fact are very nice. I hate to repot them because they are so nice but the fact is they are not legal. They are taking desperately needed jobs away from the American people in Pensacola, FL. Some are receiving benefits/assitance from the State and Government. Worst of all Emerald Coast Growers feels no shame in gaining a profit and hurting the community they live in by encouraging them to work there.
